About the cameras
The cameras are Raspberry Pis with a camera module, taking a frame at a fixed interval around the clock. The software is Raspilapse, written in Python: it eases the exposure from daylight through twilight into long night frames without flicker between them, and assembles the frames into timelapse videos with ffmpeg.
